OT DVD Player

Samsung HT E4500 Home Cinema.
I bought it today but as I'm not feeling to well I have not set it up.
I have the HDMI cable and the digital optical cable
I have looked at the quick install manual and become confused.
It tell me to plug in the optical cable and (little arrow) "Select D. IN
mode." This is before the player is plugged into the mains.
Is there a switch somewhere?

You can use either just the HDMI cable, or the HDMI cable and optical
cable. Depending on the capabilities of your DVD player and sound
system you may or may not get better sound quality by using the
optical cable. You'll have to figure out which is best for yourself.

If you decide to use your optical lead, you connect it, then after you
power on your sound system you select "D. In" which will be the
digital optical input of your sound system.

Thanks, that is the only way that I could think of.
It was this instruction that came before powering on that confused me.
Hopefully this option will appear in the set up menu which is supposed to
appear when I press the on button on the remote.
